We provide holistic care through medical intervention and rehabilitation therapies
Empowering children with hearing loss to listen, speak, and thrive in mainstream society
Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT) is a specialized early intervention approach that teaches children with hearing loss to use their residual hearing—enhanced by hearing aids or cochlear implants—to develop spoken language naturally. Unlike traditional methods, AVT focuses on developing the auditory cortex of the brain, teaching children that hearing is an active sense and listening becomes an automatic response.
At Purnaang Foundation, our certified therapists work one-on-one with each child and their family, coaching parents to become the primary facilitators of their child's listening and spoken language development. This family-centered approach ensures therapy continues beyond sessions, integrating listening skills into everyday activities at home.

Using appropriate hearing aids and cochlear implants to maximize auditory stimulation
Coaching parents to become primary facilitators through active participation in therapy
Guiding children to use hearing as the primary sensory modality for developing spoken language
Creating supportive listening environments throughout the child's daily activities
Integrating listening and spoken language into all aspects of the child's life
Following natural developmental patterns of audition, speech, language, and cognition
Teaching children to self-monitor their spoken language through active listening
Conducting ongoing diagnostic assessments to develop individualized treatment plans
Promoting education in regular schools with typically hearing peers from early childhood
Research shows that children who undergo Auditory Verbal Therapy early—ideally starting between 2-3 months old—often achieve spoken language skills comparable to or even better than their hearing peers by first grade. The therapy takes advantage of optimal neural plasticity in the first 3.5 years of life, when the brain most readily adapts and learns.
Through natural interactions like playing, singing, and talking, children learn to interpret sounds, develop vocabulary, and communicate effectively. This enables them to succeed in mainstream education, build friendships, gain independence, and access the full range of academic, social, and occupational opportunities available to all children.
